How to Holiday Travel: Skin, Mind, Body

The final countdown is on! Last minute decor, shopping, party planning and travel arrangements are in full swing. This time of year is a favorite for most, but that doesn’t mean it is always easy. With so many obligations, it is easy to put your needs on the back burner. Let’s take a deep breath and put together a plan to keep it all together.

Many of you are going to be out and about more than normal, so you want to look your best. Colder weather and more travel means one thing, you need to upgrade your moisturizer. Depending on where you are, holiday weather can deprive your skin of the moisture it needs. If you are travelling, especially by plane, it can severely dehydrate your skin. Around the end of November you should start looking into thicker, richer moisturizers.

Look for Moisturizers:

  • Containing hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in the skin, aiding in hydration

  • Added antioxidants to help combat winter pollutants

  • Containing organic oils if you do not have acne prone skin

  • Water based gel formula for acne prone skin

On the road, in the airport, walking around an outdoor mall? You are not alone. Try stepping away from the internal checklist and treating your mind, in the midst of the chaos. While you are on the go, start listening to podcasts and audiobooks. You can download them in advance so you can listen Wi-Fi free. This could potentially entertain, educate or even inspire you while battling for a parking spot or browsing through Macy’s. Seriously, being aware of what’s around you but laughing to yourself makes everything so much better. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed and if you are, we can talk later.

Being on the go, in foreign environments, with a checklist a mile long can be challenging, especially on the body. You are exhausted, out of a routine and hungry...this can be a nightmare. But, it is all about planning and smart decision-making. Make it a goal to get 10,000 steps in, maybe not every day but the majority of days over the holiday. I am not suggesting you go get a killer workout in because I am not a monster, I am realistic. But, just simply moving your body can do wonders for you, mentally and physically. For a lot of you, the holidays may mean more cocktails. So, you must hydrate, hydrate, hydrate, now more than ever. Bring a water bottle with you on your journey and force yourself to get the H2O you need.

These are small suggestions that can make a big impact. Sometimes, you need to put things in perspective, set goals and do a little planning in advance. I hope you remember to stay Intune with yourself this, busy holiday season! Happy Holidays, everyone!
